Russian IMPERIAL SILVER Badge of the 56th Zhitomir Infantry Regiment
Very RARE Russian IMPERIAL Gold cross in the Kulm style with raised gold borders. In the centre is a corrugated silver oxidized Sebastopol cross. Its central medallion is surrounded by a laurel wreath bound by a gold ribbon tied in a bow and covered with red enamel and bearing the gold number "349". On the lateral rays of the cross are the gold raised dates "1811" and "1911". On the lower ray is the inscription "56 ЖИТ. ПОЛКЪ" and the number "100" marked in raised gold lettering and numbering on four lines. XF condition! Silver, tested.
This particular badge has extremely rare variant: the cyphers of the Emperor Nickolas I and Nickolas II was changed and instead cypher of the Emperor Alexander III was installed cypher of the Emperor Alexander II.
Reference: V.Kempf. Imperial military badges of Russia, item 1.5.56.2, price in XF condition $12.000. Last 10 years this variant of the badge did not sell anywhere including Russian famous auction "GELOS".

Утвержден 7 октября 1911 г.

Знак имеет форму креста. Между лучами креста золотые вензели Императоров Александра I, Александра III, Николая I и Николая II, увенчанные золотыми Императорскими коронами. На горизонтальных лучах креста юбилейные даты «1811» и «1911», на верхнем вертикальном луче золотой вензель Императора Александра II и золотой вензель Великого Князя Николая Николаевича, на нижнем - надпись и цифра «100». В центре знака серебряный оксидированный Севастопольский крест с цифрой «349».

Бронза, серебро, позолота, эмаль. Диаметр – 47 мм.
